This morning we decided to go eat breakfast out for a special treat since Chad worked so hard this week mowing all his yards so we could have a Saturday together. We went to the Pfunky Griddle over off Bransford (for all you locals) after it was recommended to us by a friend. Lawton LOVED it and kept on saying "This is so much fun!" over and over again. We also went to the Y last night to swim for a fun family Friday night (say that 3x fast) and he kept on saying "This is so much fun!" over and over again then, too. (We've had a fun weekend so far!) Anyways . . . you get to cook your own pancakes (or in my case, French Toast, yum!) on your own griddle at your table. It was pretty tasty!
Here's Chad being a "griddle" master! HA!
Lawton dropped in chocolate chips to his pancakes (and snuck a few into his mouth in the meantime! :)
Carolina wanted to be in on the action, too!
The decor . . . I thought it had a nice ambiance about it!
Alright, I know that you all have been dying to hear about soccer. . . HA! (These pictures are actually from last week, we didn't take any digital today) So - the first game - DISASTER. Lawton wouldn't go on the field, (probably because it wasn't his idea) and it was HOT (I could kinda understand that one) and he preferred to play football with his cousins on the sideline and swing from a empty overturned net nearby. I will admit, Chad and I were pretty frustrated, just because he had a terrible attitude. I might have been a little unreasonable, too, but hey, this is supposed to be FUN and we're doing this for YOU!
Anyways, new game plan for last week. We were just going to play it cool, act like we didn't really care if he played or not, stayed very positive, and what do you know? The little booger scored a goal on opening kickoff! (It might have been a little luck, but he did kick it half way down the field!) He played on and off the rest of the game and actually participated, which is all we really want him to do! Len is doing a GREAT job being the coach . . . he is so patient and calm. Thanks, Len!
Isn't this the cutest picture of all their names?
Lawton and Daddy after the game
One proud soccer player! After he scored the goal last week, he ran off the field to Chad saying "Daddy, I did it! I scored a goal! Everyone is saying my name!" Precious boy!
Here he is excitedly telling Noni and Luke all about the game.Today was another success relatively speaking. Of course, our team (all first time three year olds) got drilled by the other team (we didn't score a goal) . But, Lawton and his friends played hard and were trying (for the most part :) and had fun - the SNACK at the end is the best part!
The highlight of today: Lawton doesn't quite understand the boundaries/stop when the whistle blows concept. He would get to kicking, go out of bounds and just keep going. We would be yelling his name to stop, the ref was blowing his whistle, yet Lawton kept going. One time he went about 30 yards (I'm NOT exaggerating) until the ref finally caught up with him. After he did this several times, Len and the ref realized that when he got the ball and started heading out of bounds, to catch up with him and stop him before he went too far. Hilarious. We tried to explain it to him without discouraging him and his new found fervor for the game. Did I mention after the game I found out that Chad had told him he could get a new car if he tried hard? Hmmm. It worked, though! Aren't we terrible?!! :)
Be sure to keep scrolling! There are two other posts below. Thanks for stopping in and have a good weekend!
