Shoney's anyone?

Here's a funny story . . .

It has long been said that I am NOT a fan of Shoney's. Just too many bad experiences as a child, etc. Chad has always joked about wanting to go to Shoney's when trying to decide where to eat, and of course, my answer is always NO! There is a Shoney's right up the road from us, and Lawton has seen the commercials on television for Shoney's, and he put the two together and mentioned going. Sooooo. . . Chad decided that when I went to Bunco this week, they would have a boy's night out.

Rewind to earlier this week . . . Chad and Lawton were sitting there eating with six other patrons in the restaurant. The waitress was talking to them and Lawton was busy checking something out on the floor. The waitress asked him, "What are you looking at?" and Lawton replied . . . "I think it's a mouse!"

The waitress just blushed and laughed, probably thinking, "If you only knew what was in the kitchen!" and the woman nearby that heard him got eyes the size of quarters!

Now, Lawton has never seen a real mouse, nor has he joked about this ever before. When you ask him what he saw at Shoney's, he has and still is consistently saying "a mouse!" eeek! Do you think I will ever go? No way!!!

We have a name!

It's official . . . Carolina Grace!! We have loved the name Carolina for about six years - one night Chad and I were eating dinner and watching the news. For you long time Nashvillians - you have to know about Bill Hall and his Sunshine Awards. We were eating dinner and weatherman Bill Hall gave a Sunshine Award to a 93 (or so) year old woman Carolina something something. We both looked at each other and said "I like that name" and we have never forgotten it. We still love it and remember it, but I never really thought we would get to use the name Carolina. It is such a sweet, southern name which we feel sounds precious as a baby/child and very elegant and sophisticated as a woman.

Grace . . . what can I say? How simple, how pure, and what a reminder of the grace our Father has bestowed upon us! We cannot wait to meet our precious Carolina Grace and we pray for her health and well being constantly. We covet your prayers as well over the remaining weeks!!

An early Valentine's Day tribute

I just can't wait until Valentine's Day to proclaim my deep love for my husband! This Sunday, I realized just how lucky I am to have found the love of my life. Not that I haven't realized it before, but I wanted to share with the entire world :) how precious he is.

We were sitting in church on Sunday and he was looking at our church announcements/bulletin. He pointed to something and looked at me and smiled, and I was a little confused at first. There in the bulletin it was a reminder about the Father/Daughter Movie Night at our church this weekend. I asked, "Are you excited about doing that one day?" and he just grinned and nodded. I had to smile and look away as tears started welling up in my eyes. (I'm not sure if he ever noticed the tears streaming down my cheeks . . .)

How lucky is our little girl to have a daddy that will be excited about special events to come years down the road? He will be the sweetest, calmest, most caring daddy I can ever dream of for her and already is for Lawton. I have married the most kind, compassionate, calm, level-headed, Godly man I could dream of. He does so much to help around the house and is one of the hardest working people I have ever met. The children and staff at his school are the luckiest people in Metro to have him as an administrator and I hope they realize that. Now, I will say he is not the most romantic guy in the world and still has trouble with public affection :), but I know that he loves me deeply and would be completely lost without me. :) I am the luckiest girl in the world to be married to Chad and hopefully one day our children will understand how incredibly lucky they are to have him as a father. I love you sweetheart!
