Buzz
It's "really perfeck!" This outfit has been on his body almost constantly (except for when he sleeps, plays outside, or when we go out. Hope it lasts until Halloween! If not, that's o.k. too!Our little kicker!
Carolina LOVES this seat, especially the pig. I got out of the shower and she was going to town!Enjoy! (Mom and Dad, this is mostly for you!)
Wilson County Fair - Yee Haw!
August means it is Wilson County Fair time! Since I am a local girl, :) I grew up going to this fair, entering NUMEROUS entries, and riding all the rides. Looking back now, I realize how smart my mom was! She encouraged my sister and I to work all summer (stay out of her hair- ha!) and make things to enter into the fair. I would enter crafts, sewing, photography, paintings, drawings, baking and anything else I could manage. I ended up every year with a lot of ribbons and a lot of dough! Taking Chad and now the kids is a fun yearly event we wouldn't miss! 
Lawton LOVES trying out all the tractors. We have to put a limit on them he loves it so much!
Every year we get a picture on a mower like this since Chad mows on the side. (Chad's is a walk-behind, though.) I wish I could show you the progression from year to year, but since I just went digital in May . . .) Lawton was just 4 months old at his first fair experience.
Emily and the boys were at the fair earlier in the day and we were able to hook up for a quick pic before they left.
We did, however, meet up with Kathryn, Andrew and Luke for a fun time. This was Luke and Carolina's first trip to the fair!
Lawton ate with Kathryn and Andrew and made shadow puppets in the sun. It was a gorgeous day/night. The first time I can EVER remember not dripping with sweat!
Chad and Lawton watch the Super Pull at the main arena. Too bad it wasn't Demolition Derby night! :) Now that is some Saturday night entertainment! HA!

This is what amazes me - We had told Lawton that we were going to the fair but didn't talk much about the details, figuring he wouldn't remember much because he was only two last year. We were walking around and he asked to go see the train and get on. How did he remember?

Another tempting scenario that runs through my mind some days . . . LOL!
He loved the cars - for a kiddie ride it whipped him around fast!

I will have to say - it was fun! Do we look alike here?
We took Gran-D and Papa J for their first trip to the fair. (Sorry it took us so long!) My parents have always had a booth at the fair for their business until this year. I guess we have always gone up there to see them. (The UT guy is some random person . . .)
And this was Lawton on the way home. He was pooped after a fun time!

Go Team USA!
Carolina is sporting her red, white and blue! Do you think balancing on a rocking chair could qualify as an Olympic sport? :) Be sure to keep scrolling - I was on a roll and did four posts tonight! 
What did you do this summer?
This is what Chad did! He built a playhouse and a swing set for Lawton and Carolina during his few weeks off this summer. 
Lawton was a big helper with his "shovel" and "tool belt"!

He worked so hard! :)
The finished product! I am so proud of you, Chad! He did it ALL except for a little help he got from his Dad squaring the posts and then some help with the roof. We have loved playing outside during the cool morning/evening hours!

I also want to shout out to Chad how proud I am of him and his new job! He is now the principal at Cole Elementary! Students arrive Monday and he has been working so hard to get everything ready for the new school year. His students, faculty and staff, and community are so lucky to have such a strong, fair, calm, educated Christian leader! I am so proud of you!!!!

I just couldn't resist posting these cute pictures of Carolina! The blue dress was one of mine when I was little. Didn't Mom do an amazing job?! I love the crooked little smile that was finally captured in the second one down!

Carolina really loves to "talk", especially when she is on her changing table. I really don't remember Lawton talking like this, so maybe it's a girl thing - needing to be heard already! (Of course, my memory could be failing me from just three short years ago as well . . .)

Where were you six months ago?
I got the newest Pottery Barn Kids catalog in the mail this week and "WHAT?" flew out of my mouth. "Where were you six months ago?" Love the pink and red polka dots . . . 
Love the pink and red monkey motif. . .
Even love the red and pink with a touch of blue . . .
Let me explain . . . it all started with THIS chair. (and the cute little baby sitting in THE chair.)
Three and a half years ago, we bought this red gingham chair (a rosy kind of red if you pull the rosiness out) for Lawton's cowboy nursery. It looked perfect and we really didn't think much about it because we really honestly never thought we would have a girl. (If you know the High history you'll understand - but that story is for another day) Anyhow, fast forward three years and BINGO! we're having a girl! Yippee! BUT, I love the chair and saw no need to buy new bedding AND recover the chair, so I started the search to find girly (and pink) bedding to go with the chair. I really didn't want to make the bedding because my mom and I made Lawton' s and really didn't want to do it again. And for some reason, I really wanted pink walls (There is a lot of green in the house and two different bedrooms of mine growing up were yellow) But I searched and searched - and the only thing I found that I liked was fabric to make bedding once again. Sigh. Keep scrolling if you want to see how it all came together! 
I did see these in PBK and liked them, but not the price.
So, I made my own- much bigger, matched the room much better, was much cheaper, AND I got to use scraps of fabric from my baby dresses so it was much more meaningful!
This is the bedding that I made (this time solo) and her letters above the bed as well. I needed something to cover the huge expanse of wall. . .
Here's a close up view of the main fabric in the room . . .
I had looked far and wide for a rug that matched my somewhat jumbled mix of colors. I found this at PBK but waited so long to get it and decide if it really matched that when I went to finally get it, it was being clearanced and $100 off! Yippee!
The red dots hopefully pull the red into the room in a non disjointed way . . . (The top is a very pale shade of pink and the bottom is two shades darker. The red is the bottom color if you had a paint card in front of you ) This chiffarobe is an old piece from Chad's side of the family.
The whole picture . . . This little dresser is also an old piece from Chad's side of the family.
I found the changing table at a consignment sale as is and just made basket liners for the baskets that came with it.

So, even though it would have been much easier to buy the room out of PBK to go with THE chair, I had a lot of fun creating Carolina's nursery in my hodge podge way. What do you think?
