Lawton's first . . .

Day of Pre-SchoolI wish I had last year's picture in this very spot to compare . . .
His snazzy new backpack (Red is his favorite color)
His new teacher, Miss Donitta.
Lawton did great on his first day of school. He had a great time and was so excited to go - I'm not sure who was more excited, me or him! HA! Watch out Emery (and Elizabeth) - Chad and I were in the same pre-school class at CH twenty-seven or so years ago! :) It's also a surreal sort of circle because one of my best friends from pre-school and elementary school's little boy is in Lawton's class now. (Did you follow all that?)
Here's a few pictures from Open House last week - in the reading corner
With a fire truck he discovered right off the bat!
What a smile! He was able to pick out his very own locker.

Lawton's first dentist appointment
We had to cancel our appointment this summer due to VBS. Our dentist is so great, the next time they could schedule us was January! WOW! So . . . we have been on the call list if there was a cancellation. This morning as we were heading to the Y, they called and said they could see both of us! So I jumped on the chance and apologized ahead of time for the way we might look . . . Lawton did great! I was in one room getting my teeth cleaned (with Carolina taking a snooze in her carrier) and Lawton went with another hygienist down the hall to get his teeth cleaned. He sat there like a statue, no problems and let the hygienist and Dr. Jeff probe all in his mouth. This is the same child who balks every time I have to cut his nails. What? I seriously never know how he will react to things. For example, I thought he would love soccer. Ask me how the first soccer game and first two practices have gone and I might have a nervous breakdown and hyperventilate remembering the horror that I have experienced thus far. It's not quite that bad, but almost. Argghhh. The details are for another day.
All smiles!

Lawton's first football game of the season
We went to the Overton(Chad's alma mater) vs. Hillsboro (one of his former students/star athlete plays) football game Friday night
Lawton took it all in. . .
This was his favorite part, though. The Twix from the concession stand - he realized that people were coming up with "snacks" from this little building and insisted that he get in on the action, too. (We were going to get him something anyways, I promise!)

Isn't it funny (we'll use that word, anyways) how unpredictable a child's reactions to different experiences are?
Great pictures of preschool and of little Carolina in her dresses. Girls are lots of fun with their frills and bows. I love that you have so many of your own precious dresses to put her in.

Lawton looks so precious in your pictures! I have to take my kids to the dentist next week and I am DREADING it!!! Abby Kate is my wild card - always has been, always will be. (I might have to show her how well Lawton is sitting for the dentist.) Out of 3 past trips to the dentist, she has had her teeth cleaned once!

I loved looking at your pictures of Carolina! She looks like a little doll!

Isn't that crazy about mother's day out? I was there the same time you and Chad were all those years ago. All I could think of as I walked in Tuesday was...this used to be me. The fact that some of the teachers are still around is a little weird to me too. It was good to see you guys in the flesh the other day!

I love all of the "firsts!" Lawton looks SOOOO excited about school- such sweet pictures! I can TOTALLY relate to your frustrations with soccer... do you remember all of my frustrations with Brody during the first semester of Kindermusik (having to carry him b/c he refused to walk in a circle)??

I love all of the new pictures! You'll have to tell me more about the breakfast (griddle) place- we love going out for breakfast! Been there with the soccer frustrations... thankfully your kind and gentle brother-in-law made it much easier for us to handle! Glad school is going well for Lawton- Ms Donita seems so sweet!
