About a month ago, I realized that Lawton had absolutely no spring/summer pajamas. I usually try to get some at the end of the season, but for whatever reason, I did not do so last summer. We were near the Carter's outlet (LOVE Carter's pajamas) and decided to let Lawton choose a couple of pairs himself. I looked through them all, picked out about eight or nine designs in his size, and showed them to him one by one. I went through a dinosaur set, some sports ones, and some other designs. At about the sixth set, when I showed him "Daddy's my hero", he immediately said, "YES! That one! I love "Daddy's my hero" pajamas!" We also ended up getting some fire engine pajamas and a sports set. I'm not sure why, though, since he wants to wear these EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT.
Ever since Carolina has been born, Chad has done the nighttime routine with Lawton while I nurse Carolina and put her to bed. The other night as I was sitting in Carolina's room, I overheard the sweetest conversation. Lawton told Chad "Daddy, you're my hero" as he has many times before. Then Chad told Lawton that Lawton was his hero and to that, Lawton replied, "I wish you had some hero pajamas like me!"
Well . . . Chad's birthday was on Saturday - the big 32. Ho-hum. Mine is coming up next. . . 32 is not very exciting. Happy Birthday, Chad! So, of course, we headed out to the local Target to get a superhero shirt, ahem, "pajamas" for Chad for his birthday. Lawton excitedly picked out a Spider man shirt . . . just Chad's style. Hah! For those of you who personally know Chad, you know he is not a "trendy" dresser. AT. ALL. Love you, sweetie!
Lawton was so excited to give Chad some "matching pajamas" and for Chad to actually wear the shirt. This might be my most favorite picture of them together. EVER. I can never get Lawton to pose, much less smile at the camera. You can feel the deep love and admiration oozing out of this picture. I love how his arm is around his hero, and the chocolate icing is still all over his chin from a cupcake earlier in the day. And yes, he did sleep with icing on his chin (but we did brush his teeth). Don't judge me.
Chad, you are my hero for this picture. For what you mean to our children, and for what you mean to me. You are my best friend and I'm glad you're mine! Happy Birthday! Here's to many more years as Lawton's hero. And mine.

That is the sweetest!!!
Good post....I'm a little teary eyed!
That is really, really sweet!
Chad IS a Hero.
I love Chad for being a wonderful father and husband. Nothing makes me prouder than to know that both my "girls" have absolutely wonderful, smart, talented and caring Christian men for their husbands. Thank you Chad for all you do and are.
Dandy
Not only is this a great post about an awesome Dad/brother-in-law, I have to say that I do love the shirt. Chad is always a good sport! No need to limit it to pj's - I think Chad's students would love to see their principle sport that at school!
that is really really sweet!!!!!!
What a great post! Tell Chad that he should wear his "PJ's" next year on Pajama Day at Cole! :)
That was just precious! They are so sweet in that last picture.
Very sweet! And don't ever tell Jonathan Seamon you think 32 is boring. It is his very favorite number. Ever.
Lawton read the Easter story from his Bible to the whole class tonight. After I did the Bible story he asked if he could read it and when I said yes he just climbed in my lap and read it. I was so honored. I knew he was reading, but WOW!
What a special tribute to my son who's grown up to be everything we ever dreamed for him. Raising sons is a joy; however, it does take a lot of time, energy, love, & prayers. (I'm sure that's true for raising daughters as well, but we have no experience with girls.:-) Junior and I have always prayed that our sons would be fine Christian men, strong leaders, good husbands, and devoted fathers. With the help & support from their wonderful wives (whom the LORD picked out for them--(we KNOW because we prayed for Him to pick out the wives for all 3 boys), our two older boys have become all of what we'd hoped and are even more blessed than we'd ever imagined with their WONDERFUL Christian wives and precious children. We are looking forward to watching what the Lord has planned for our youngest, Lance, & his future wife, Heather. Thanks, Laura Beth, for the tremendous love, support, and encouragement you've given to Chad that have helped him to grow to be the kind and gentle, tough but tender, Christian man that we've dreamed of his becoming. You are truly an answer to our prayers as are your terrific parents who've done such a wonderful job in their God given role of raising such a dedicated Christian young lady--the ONE that God had planned to be the soul mate for our Chad and the mother that will help lead our grandchildren to serve the Lord. We love you SO MUCH! Your photos and your writing are WONDERFUL! Maybe you should become a professional photographer & journalist! :-) Donna
