A trip around the tree

My Santa Baby was sitting in front of the tree tonight and said, "Hey, Mom! Why don't you show me and your blogging buddies some of your favorite ornaments on the tree since you luvvvv reminiscing every year as you decorate the tree?" So I thought I would. As if you really care. Enjoy! (If you actually keep scrolling down . . .) But seriously, on the main tree in our house, there is such a hodge podge of ornaments - and I LOVE it! Both of our parents saved all of our ornaments growing up and gave them to us when we got married. (Ones that we had made, were given to us from our teachers, etc. ) My parents got an ornament for me and my sister every year when we went somewhere. I now get an ornament when we go somewhere (except Florida . . . if I did that I would have 25 Florida ornaments . . . ummm, no.) It is a neat reminder of great memories that have been made over a lifetime and I can't wait to add more memories to the tree!

We gave these ornaments out as favors at our wedding. Someone just told me yesterday that they just hung theirs on their tree. YEAH! That is exactly why we did it! ;) (And we have an anniversary coming up very soon . . .)
Our names and wedding date are engraved on the bottom of this one. We have like 8 First Christmas ornaments because, well, we got married right at Christmas! :)
This is from our honeymoon. We went to Sanibel, FL which is known for its shells!
I got this one at Christmas Village this year with our newest addition on the ornament. Yippee!
And then we were a family of three . . .
Lawton's first Christmas with us - see the baby curl? Awwww.
Chad surprised me two years ago and took me to the Biltmore for our anniversary. We had such a good time and of course I had to get this swanky ornament! (which is at the very top of the tree!)
This is from a girls trip that we took on St. Patrick's Day weekend. So cute and a great reminder of a girls trip - one that probably won't happen again for a very, very, very long time!
This is one that Chad made in 1984. I love this one so much for some reason! Maybe because I can picture him as a little boy, sticking out his tongue as he is concentrating (just like his Dad and now Lawton) on cutting all the little details out of felt. And it is on the top from a Cheese Balls container. Remember those? Ahh, memories.
Chad and I got this on our cruise to Alaska in 2004. Lawton was actually with us, we just didn't know it yet! :) It was a FABULOUS trip!
I found this ornament in the second story of the cabin. I love how it still has string on it from where it was hung oh so many years ago.
I still remember making these when I was in junior high. I actually gave out a lot of these to family members for Christmas presents. Love the panty hose faces.
These might possibly be my favorites. My parents made these when I was a baby. Macrame beads, Sesame Street and Afros equals . . . seventies! :)
Here's another one I found at the cabin.
This sweet little dainty ballerina was actually taken from my mobile when I was a baby. Instead of just sitting in a box somewhere, my mom decided to cut all the figures off and give two to me and two to my sister. Love it.
I took a trip to South Dakota in college with a group from Lipscomb for an education class.
Another girls trip . . . it will be a really long time I think before I get another girls trip ornament.
And there you have it. I could have taken soooo many more pictures, but I bet only two people actually even made it to the bottom of this post. Maybe I should post a picture of the entire tree . . . stay tuned!

I loved looking at your ornaments and the stories behind them. All of our ornament are a hodge podge too, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I LOVE reading your blog, Laura Beth. I sent the link to Pam so she could possibly keep up with you all. She said one lady has a computer with Internet, and she'd ask if she could take a look. I'm glad you're enjoying the camera so much. :-) GranD
