A little naked reading and such . . .

~ Dauphin Island Vacation continued~

While the boys were napping, Carolina did a little naked swimming in her hippo pool on the porch so we wouldn't disturb everyone inside. After she was done, Carolina found some interesting reading to pass the afternoon away. . . she seriously sat and flipped through this book for almost ten minutes!

. . . and then she decided to rearrange everyone's shoes on the porch . . . how thoughtful! :)

One afternoon Brent, Emily, Houston, Hunter and the four of us decided to explore the island a little bit. There is an estuarium on the island with lots of interesting fish and other exhibits. The kids liked tromping around and seeing all the cool fish. Carolina was smacking her lips - her "word" for fish!

We then scooted on down to Fort Gaines - an absolute SAUNA - with the heat all trapped down in the fort. Since we've been home, Lawton was talking the other day about "you know, the place we went where Jesus died". It took us a while, but we finally figured out that he was talking about the fort. Maybe the the bunkers looked like "tombs"? We got a good laugh anyways!

Oh, and for the record, Carolina was ALL OVER the place here. She threw a FIT when we tried to put her in the stroller and just wanted to walk and explore everywhere. That includes tottering on the upper level of the fort, up and down all the stairs and in and out of all the doorways. She was a hot mess . . . and so were we after chasing her!
