Love the pink and red monkey motif. . .
Even love the red and pink with a touch of blue . . .
Let me explain . . . it all started with THIS chair. (and the cute little baby sitting in THE chair.)
Three and a half years ago, we bought this red gingham chair (a rosy kind of red if you pull the rosiness out) for Lawton's cowboy nursery. It looked perfect and we really didn't think much about it because we really honestly never thought we would have a girl. (If you know the High history you'll understand - but that story is for another day) Anyhow, fast forward three years and BINGO! we're having a girl! Yippee! BUT, I love the chair and saw no need to buy new bedding AND recover the chair, so I started the search to find girly (and pink) bedding to go with the chair. I really didn't want to make the bedding because my mom and I made Lawton' s and really didn't want to do it again. And for some reason, I really wanted pink walls (There is a lot of green in the house and two different bedrooms of mine growing up were yellow) But I searched and searched - and the only thing I found that I liked was fabric to make bedding once again. Sigh. Keep scrolling if you want to see how it all came together!(She was worth all the trouble if you're wondering! :)
I did see these in PBK and liked them, but not the price.
So, I made my own- much bigger, matched the room much better, was much cheaper, AND I got to use scraps of fabric from my baby dresses so it was much more meaningful!
This is the bedding that I made (this time solo) and her letters above the bed as well. I needed something to cover the huge expanse of wall. . .

Here's a close up view of the main fabric in the room . . .
I had looked far and wide for a rug that matched my somewhat jumbled mix of colors. I found this at PBK but waited so long to get it and decide if it really matched that when I went to finally get it, it was being clearanced and $100 off! Yippee!
The red dots hopefully pull the red into the room in a non disjointed way . . . (The top is a very pale shade of pink and the bottom is two shades darker. The red is the bottom color if you had a paint card in front of you ) This chiffarobe is an old piece from Chad's side of the family.

The whole picture . . . This little dresser is also an old piece from Chad's side of the family.
I found the changing table at a consignment sale as is and just made basket liners for the baskets that came with it.
The view as you walk in the door
So, even though it would have been much easier to buy the room out of PBK to go with THE chair, I had a lot of fun creating Carolina's nursery in my hodge podge way. What do you think?

I am so jealous of your talent!! Her room looks like someting you would see out of a magazine!!! Are those just painted circles on the wall? I am glad that you posted pictures of it. You did a great job!
Love it! You did an awesome job. PBK always messes me up and comes out with something I love right after I redo an entire room..just to keep me coming back for more I guess.
yOU ARE SO SMART! vERY CUTE!!!
It's perfect...you're so talented!!
It's absolutley beautiful!! You really are so talented!! You should add your own page in pottery barn!!! :)
Carolina's nursery is wonderful and so perfect for her. You were one step ahead of PBK, maybe you should be a designer for them!
I love Carolina's nursery! Her room is just gorgeous!
I forgot...
Carolina is just too cute sitting in the chair!!!
Much cuter that PBK. I wanted red and pink mixed for Abby's room when I was pregnant with her and it was SO hard to find (finally did at Plaid Rabbit and pd way too much, or course). You did a FANTASTIC job - so talented!! I just love the little dots seperating the two different colors on the walls - too cute!
her nursery is precious! i have a knack for getting obsessed with something i can't find and making it myself, and then finding it EVERYWHERE, so i know what you mean! love all the pictures of the room--you are so talented! the sewing, the artwork...so cute!
LOVE IT!! You are so creative and talented
Looks sooo cute! PBK has nothing on you!
I too love red and pink together! I had the exact same problem finding it together and thought the same exact thing when I saw the bedding in PBK!
I have to say after looking at all the cute nurserys....yours is just priceless! I think it is darling! You have combine new with old and your pictures are BETTER than PBK!
I think you did FAB!!
Sweet baby girl too! She's precious!
Just touring - it's so much fun. I love her room, you did such an awesome job. PBK did the same thing to me. I couldn't find anything that was what I wanted when I was pg, but as soon as I had the room finished, they head exactly what I wanted!
I love all the old furniture! Didn't you know you were so ahead of the curve with the pink and red polka dots?!? Love it. Love. Love. Love it!
We're gonna be in the same boat if we get a girl, becuase we got an orange upholstered rocker from my parents before Aseth was born. Im always on the lookout for pink and orange bedding....I'm tempted to buy the PBK monkey bedding right now, just in case!
Yours is one of the BEST nurseries on the tour. I LOVE all the little details in the room and your artwork is just gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing!
God Bless!
I LOVE your nursery!!! The walls are the cutest!!! Those pictures over the changing table are precious, too! All of it...so cute!
